About Memento Mori

In Memento Mori you take the role of a retired, Grim Reaper who lives peacfully in his farm and takes care of his flowers. His life was calm and uneventful untill one day when he woke up to find that all the his flowes-and all living things-have withered. The Grim Reaper now has to investigate and find out who or what is behind all this. It is time to pick up his scythe once again...there is only one problem with that!

Memento Mori is game that combines 2D sprites in a 3D space with a slight isometric perspective. In terms of gameplay, the game features mellee and range combat, farming, exploration and an inventory system. It also incorporates some RPG elements like stats upgradeds and a customizable build of skills. Memento mori is a story-driven experience which uses a dialogue system in a form of text to linearly progress the story.

My Contributions

Memento Mori was developed during the Game Development project at the University of Gothenburg. It was a collaborative work from a team of six people. My involvement in the project covers the following areas:

  • Conceptualization
  • Designed and created the game's maps
  • Designed and implemented the enemies behaviour
  • Put together the user interface and UI elements
  • In-engine animation of characters and props
  • Shader scripting and visual effects
  • Lighting direction
  • Added sound effects
  • Post-processing
