About pr//WITNESS
pr//WITNESS is a short narrative experience made with Unreal Engine. Through this game, the player experiences, in first-person view, the drama of Dwade Romer, an architect about to start a life with his fiance when he's diagnosed with schizomorphic disorder which causes auditory hallucinations. His condition doesn't seem to get better when his doctor prescribes him an experimental drug. Now something is wronng with his eyes.
The stroy is unfolded through linear storytelling while the game lets the player discover and trigger the main events that slowly lead to the final act. The game also incorporates a datamosh (a video compression artifact) shader to visualize Dwade's hallucinations and transition moments. In addition, motion capturing was used for the cutscenes.
